About

From anywhere in East Memphis, when you look up, the Clark Tower looks back.

This is not just a building. It’s an antenna for enterprise and entrepreneurship in Memphis. It’s a hive buzzing with what’s to come for our city. The Clark Tower is fully amenitized, centrally located, Class A office space that also happens to be one of the most iconic buildings in the Mid-South.

Look up, and look out. This is where Memphis does business.

Get Some Perspective

When you stand this tall, it’s easy to take the long view. For the first time in over 30 years, Clark Tower is under local ownership, but we didn’t just buy a piece of prime commercial real estate. We bought in on a civic responsibility – to be stewards of the Clark Tower is to deliver Memphis a premium, top class reflection of itself. This is a landmark meant to thrum with the activity that will define the next great era of our city.

Clark Tower is the original activating force – the CPU in the microchip – at the center of the largest revenue generating ‘super block’ in the city. Restaurants, movie theaters, and multiple grocery stores have all grown up around it. Thriving Mom & Pop operations across the street from Big Box retailers. History, character and authenticity, right up alongside progress and new development. Buzzwords like Mixed Use & Live/Work/Play were invented to describe what has already & always been the case around here. The Clark Tower is positioned to bind those values together well into the 21st century.

The history of East Memphis economic development hangs around the tentpole of Clark Tower. And it is in the undeniable bullseye of the wider metropolitan area. For so long we have all been looking at this icon. It’s time to look within it.

Our History

In the late 1960’s William Clark announced his plans to build one of the nation’s tallest buildings outside of a downtown, an outpost at 5100 Poplar Ave in East Memphis. It was, to say the least, a wild idea. Upon completion in 1971, Clark Tower immediately reset the bar for premium office space in the South.

15 years later, by the late 80’s, the city had galloped past it, blooming further east at an uncontrolled pace. As shiny new things called out from the exurbs, all of a sudden Clark Tower was the old guard. But there is transformation afoot. What’s old is always new again. What was once a frontier in 1972 is now the center of town. The tide of culture, commerce and community calls us back into the City, where Clark Tower stands ready to incubate the next generation of Memphis enterprise and entrepreneurship.
